The Mission Statement of The Ice Can Excel Skating Academy is to provide a safe & respectful learning environment for skaters regardless of age, ability, nationality, sexuality & religion so they may progress through the Skate Canada structure in both competing & testing. ICESA also strives to provide a staff of professional coaches that uphold the utmost of integrity for both Skate Canada, Skate Ontario & ICESA.
Lisa has been coaching for 29 years. During her skating career she attained Quad Gold Test status in Figures, Free Skate, Dance & Skills as well as Novice Competitive Pairs, Junior Competitive Singles. Competed from Pre-Juvenile to Junior Singles & Novice Pairs. Lisa trained with the world's best coaches & skaters.
Applying some of her learning from world-renowned coaches she attained National Level Coaching Qualification, completed 7 Level 4 Tasks (Long Term Athlete Development, Canadian Sport System, Biomechanics) and is CanPower Certified. Lisa has coached skaters from the Grassroots level to the Provincial & National level in both singles and pairs including a silver medal win at the Novice Pairs level at the Canadian Figure Skating Championships and the long time coach of World Competitor Trennt Michaud. Lisa sat as a Skate Ontario Resource Team Member, Skate Ontario CanSkate Assessor & is currently Skate Canada Star 1-4 Official.
Lisa has a diploma in Recreation Leadership, certificate in fitness & lifestyle management, courses in psychology & Canadian criminal justice system.
Lisa opened ICESA in the summer of 2019 and is Belleville's first ever Skating Academy. The goal of ICESA was to offer a welcome environment with an open door policy to all skaters, coaches, parents in the area to allow for each skater to succeed at their own pace. ICESA believes that every skater should be given every opportunity possible to succeed according to their goals. ICESA offers unique programming to help supplement all skaters regardless of which sport or level as well as motivational sessions.
Outside of skating Lisa owns & operates FoxTrot Rhodesian Ridgebacks & lives in Prince Edward County along with her husband and 5 year old son.
